Bebhinn McKinley
Regional Coordinator Northern Ireland
Bebhinn McKinley is a Good Relations, Peace and Reconciliation Practitioner currently working within local government in Northern Ireland. She previously held operational and policy posts at a number of NGOs, and at the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister, where she worked on implementing the Together: Building a United Community Strategy. Her work spans both programme delivery and policy, addressing the sensitive fault lines of a divided society: the demarcation of territory and space, contested assembly and protest, physical divisions such as peace walls, segregation and re-imaging, and more recently migration and integration. At the center of her practice is mediation, creating structured space for dialogue and understanding between communities that have historically had little of either. Alongside Lee, she welcomes CIEL students to Northern Ireland, guiding them through the country's past and present and helping them understand a divided society from the inside.
